This nationally recognised HLTAID011 unit equips learners with essential first‑aid knowledge and practical skills to respond confidently to a variety of emergency situations.

It is designed for individuals looking to develop or refresh first‑aid competence in workplace, community or personal settings.

The course helps learners assess emergencies, provide immediate care for injuries and illness, perform CPR and communicate effectively with emergency services.

There are no formal prerequisites; however, learners should have:

  • Basic literacy, numeracy and digital skills
  • Access to a computer or device with reliable internet for the online modules
  • The physical capacity to perform practical demonstrations including 2 minutes of uninterrupted chest compressions and rescue breathing on manikins
  • Be at least 16 years old

These skills will help learners engage effectively with the course content and complete assessments with confidence.

  • Provide first aid for a range of injuries and illnesses including fractures, burns, bleeding, and medical conditions
  • Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants, and use first-aid equipment correctly
  • Communicate and document first-aid incidents and liaise with emergency services
  • Review and reflect on first-aid responses to improve future readiness

    Assessment for this unit includes:

    • Online knowledge checks via eLearning modules
    • Practical demonstrations of first‑aid and CPR skills in simulated scenarios
    • Equipment‑based tasks and workplace‑relevant scenario assessments

    All assessments are conducted and evaluated by accredited trainers and assessors, and reflect real‑world workplace scenarios.

    Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Attainment for HLTAID011 Provide First Aid (valid for 3 years, with CPR component validity of 12 months).

    Mode: Blended (online theory along with face‑to‑face practical workshop)
    Timeframe: Approx 6 hours online and 6.5 hours face‑to‑face practical (actual times may vary per participant)
